Kyla Palmer is the director of SJSS. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Arizona University and was named Sedona School District Teacher of the Year in 2016. She has worked on the Oregon Coast for Neskowin Valley School and the Lincoln County School District, and taught math to upper elementary students at SJSS for five years before becoming director.
Mallory Migliaccio has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Oregon University. She has worked with students from preschool through middle school, including a year teaching 7th-9th grade English in China. Mallory currently teaches 1st grade, and has taught at SJSS since 2014.
Jenny Donnell teaches kindergarten, and has been teaching at SJSS since 2015. She is a ceramics artist and behavioral therapist with many years experience teaching art to K-6 children in Oregon and California. She has an AA Art and Science degree from Moorpark College with an emphasis on child development, non-violent crisis intervention, and American Sign Language.
Cyndi Daly teaches art at SJSS. She is an artist and entrepreneur who developed a private school and mobile art program in Bethany, Oregon. She has certification in non-violent crisis management and studied art at the University of Hawaii.
Jennifer Dodds teaches 5th-8th-grade literacy and social studies at SJSS. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Antioch College and extensive international teaching experience in Turkey and China.
Amy Barcia teaches 2nd grade at SJSS. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Portland and a Masters Degree in Applied Theology from Marylhurst University. She worked with adults with developmental disabilities in Portland for 15 years, assisting, training and administrating. Her love of children led her to assist and teach in Portland Public and Lincoln County School Districts. Amy likes to hike, cook and read in her spare time.
Jason Nelson teaches music to 3rd-8th graders and math to 5th-7th. He has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Northern Colorado and taught music and math for many years at Lincoln City’s Career Tech High School. He has also taught music in Lincoln County public schools and through private lessons. Jason plays saxophone in the Lincoln City Pops Big Band.
Jaime Hart is the SJSS drama teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Oberlin College and has years of experience teaching dance and theater to students from pre-school to adult. She has done extensive acting on stage and Web TV, and directs the band Your Song My Song, for which she created Water the Musical, a children’s show that partners with conservation groups.
Sara Pool teaches the combined 3rd and 4th grade class and has a Journalism and Sociology bachelors from North Park University. A writer and food systems specialist, Sara’s work assignments have included teaching, grant writing, program development and coordination, communication and operations and personnel management in summer camps, Ski Bowl, farms and the food and beverage industry. She loves teaching outdoor science, and has extensive knowledge of mycology and botany.
